What to Expect at Your First Reiki Session: A Beginner’s Guide
It all begins with an idea.
If you’re curious about Reiki but feeling unsure about what happens during a session, you’re not alone! Many people come to Reiki as beginners, wondering what it involves and how it feels.
Here’s a gentle guide to help you feel prepared and relaxed before your first session.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that promotes relaxation, balance, and wellbeing. It’s a safe, non-invasive practice where the practitioner channels energy to support your body’s natural healing processes.
Before Your Session
You don’t need to prepare anything special! Wear comfortable clothing and arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in. If you have any specific concerns or intentions (like help sleeping, emotional balance, or stress relief), feel free to share them with your practitioner.
During the Session
You’ll lie fully clothed on a massage table (or sit in a chair, if you prefer). Your practitioner will gently place their hands on or just above specific areas of your body, following a sequence that helps balance your energy.
You might feel:
A gentle warmth or tingling
Deep relaxation
Emotional release
Or simply a lovely sense of calm
Everyone’s experience is unique — and that’s perfectly okay.
After the Session
Take it easy and drink some water afterwards. You might feel very peaceful, sleepy, or even energized. Many people find that the benefits continue to unfold over the next few days.

Reiki vs. Massage Therapy: Which is Right for You?
It all begins with an idea.
If you’re looking for a way to relax, recharge, and feel more balanced, you might be wondering whether Reiki or massage is the better choice for you. Here’s how they compare — and how to decide which feels right.
Massage Therapy
Massage uses hands-on techniques to work on the body’s muscles and soft tissues.
Relieves muscle tension.
Improves circulation.
Eases physical discomfort.
Perfect if:
You’re experiencing tightness, soreness, or physical fatigue.
You want to feel physically “loosened up.”
Reiki Healing
Reiki works with your energy field rather than your muscles.
Encourages deep relaxation.
Helps emotional balance.
Supports your body’s natural healing.
Perfect if:
You’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
You want emotional support and inner calm.
Can You Combine Them?
Absolutely! Many people enjoy a massage to relax the body and Reiki to calm the mind and spirit.
I also offer a combined session for full mind-body renewal.
Still unsure? Explore my services or get in touch — I’m happy to help you decide.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
